Only about the capacity of the water tank VW has not yet provided any information. For that we know that for entertainment TV and one WiFi module are installed. With a strong Lithium battery and Solar plant on the roof, the power supply is always secured in the outback. But here too there are no more detailed specifications for the E-system in the campervan. What is Volkswagen Crafter lifespan? The estimated lifespan of a Volkswagen Crafter is 168,000mi, before reaching the life expectancy upper limit. Fuel type is a major factor when looking into a vehicles lifespan/life expectancy.
VW Crafter MWB high roof Trendline FWD 177hp review
We've driven the most powerful Crafter available – which has a 177hp 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine and returns claimed economy of 37.7mpg, barely down on the 38.2mpg from the much less powerful 102hp and 140hp versions of the same van.
You've got plenty of choice across a variety of weight classes, body lengths and wheelbases. Cab Chassis are available as Crafter 50 models with up to 5,000kg GVM in medium and long wheelbases, with varying payload depending on the combination. Crafter 35 Cab Chassis comes with 3,550kg GVM on a medium wheelbase.
Verdict. Choosing between these two is harder than ever: they're both great all-rounders with up to date engines and gearboxes, and well-designed interiors to match. For us though, the Crafter is the better thought out product as a whole, and our winner here.
Packed with driver assistance technologies that make driving easier, Volkswagen 4x4s are built for life on and off road - taking you wherever you wish to go. The new ID.
Like the second-generation LT, the first-generation Crafter is a rebadged Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, built by Daimler AG, with a powertrain by Volkswagen.
The TGE and Sprinter are the main rivals for the Crafter, but there are other options including the Ford Transit, Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxer, Fiat Ducato, Renault Master and Vauxhall Movano.
With front-wheel drive, the Crafter achieves a cargo capacity of up to 18.4 m3 and a maximum cargo space height of 2,196 mm with a permitted total weight of between three and four tonnes. Loading height is reduced by 100 mm thanks to the introduction of front-wheel drive.
The 2024 VW Crafter facelift will change little outside but lots in the cabin. An electronic parking brake frees up some space on the dashboard. The 2024 VW Crafter has been spotted testing. An EV is not part of the VW Crafter's immediate future.
The medium-wheelbase van will surely be much more frugal than the long-wheelbase high-roof model with extended rear overhang, or the heavy duty 4x4 light truck version! Still, Tim Robson saw an average of 10.2-litres per-100km on his short drive around Auckland at the Crafter launch this year.
The actual dimensions of the VW Crafter depend on the variants you choose. With three choices of height and three choices of length, there are six customisable options in total. Heights range from 2305mm to 3200mm. Widths range from 2033mm to 2100mm and lengths from 5968 to 7319mm.
Our four-wheel drive systems work hard to keep you safe, linking with other active safety systems on your vehicle to constantly monitor driving conditions.
Alternately known as four-wheel drive (4WD), the VW Transporter all-wheel drive 4Motion system is always on, so there's never any worry about needing to switch the van manually into the correct setting should hazardous conditions suddenly arise.
