Good morning, Steven Dale Skinner here, Fire Chief for the Skin Fire Department. What a wonderful day it is today to celebrate the arrival of our brand new ladder truck and the tradition of a push in ceremony, a push in ceremony which dates all the way back to the horse. Grandes when the firefighters would actually push them back into the fire station. We recently received a brand new ladder truck which does not come along very often. I believe the last one was about 15 years ago. Come on up here, find the spot. We invite the community to come out and see this brand new, beautiful ladder truck that's going to be serving our community for many, many years to come.

Courtney Toliver, Human Resources Generalist, received an unexpected birthday gift this afternoon when City Manager Steve Parker presented her with the Employee of the Month award for July! While assisting with an interview over the summer at the Seguin Animal Services Center, Courtney's attention to detail, quick thinking, and compassion resulted in helping save the life of a shelter animal. When she was at the shelter, Courtney took the time to observe the dogs and quickly alerted staff to a large amount of blood in one of the kennels. The dog in question was Lilian, who had undergone surgery a few hours earlier.After the animal emergency, Courtney continued to assist with the interview. Her ability to handle a crisis with professionalism and then seamlessly transition back to her HR duties exemplifies her dedication and versatility. Help us congratulate Courtney and wish her a veryhappy birthday!

The Seguin Fire Department recently held a badge pinning ceremony for 2 new firefighters.After completing a one-year probationary period, Ryatt Kluckman and Hannah Martin were officially sworn-in as the department's newest firefighters. Each received their badge and helmet shield.Congratulations!

Let's start our work week by announcing the city's latest Employee of the Month ~ Pina Iuffredo!!As the city’s very first Risk Manager, Pina’s role is crucial to minimizing risk and enhancing safety across all departments and operations. She has done an exceptional job growing the risk management component of the HR Department – from coordinating/ attending various safety trainings and managing ADA compliance to advocating for proactive cyber awareness.
